Design Implementation and Operation of an Education Laboratory-Scale Microgrid

To enable more wide-scale exploitation of renewable energy sources (RESs), distributed generations (DGs) as in microgrids have gained prominence recently. This study describes the design, modeling, implementation, and operation a microgrid, which standalone hybrid power system has been installed for an education research laboratory. The unstable nature RESs results compatibility issues on DGs. Therefore, providing decent flow from renewables to loads is scope this paper. satisfy defined load profiles sustain with desired level, design converters are remarkable part performing well. For robust microgrid structure, presented control algorithm includes management (EMS) between renewables, batteries, loads. Primarily, modeling developed MATLAB/Simulink environment. Additionally, case studies exemplified further demonstrate simulated system. Within scope, certain not only fed but also managed analyzed ensure effective flexible two different EMS cases. real-time provided validate under various input output conditions during lab course.
